Progress on the new Dundas Manor
by Brandon Mayer
The new Dundas Manor is one of those projects that we will one day be proud to say “we were there” for. If you have children, they may very well be out for a walk with their own children or even grandchildren one day and pass by the “new” Dundas Manor (which won’t be so new by
then), and proudly say “I watched that being built!”
The awesome reality is that we are ALL watching the building of the new long term care home. We are watching history in the making. Think of all the times you have seen old photos of construction in progress, usually from decades ago. The only reason we have such photos is that someone took the time to stop and record the moment.
North Dundas residents should record the construction progress of this new milestone. Photos taken now of the “in progress” long term care home may be historically significant photos one day. Generations of North Dundas residents will continue to have your unique piece of recorded history, even long after you’re gone. A contribution to this trend is appended to this article – a photo of the snow covered shell of the new Dundas Manor, as pictured on February 9, 2025. Such significant progress already!
The Times features countless articles of the fundraising campaign for the new Dundas Manor. It’s important for locals to also see the real progress of what the fundraising is accomplishing. It’s almost as though the community is right there every step of the way.
Remember: the new home will be more than double the size of the current one that sits next door. The two-storey home will welcome an additional 30 residents, and there will be no more hallway dining or cramped rooms. All rooms will be private or semi-private, and even in semi-private rooms, all residents will have their own bedroom. The building will be divided into “homesteads” which will feel like mini communities, and efforts will be made to keep staff consistent within homesteads. It will be a long term care home like no other.
